The RTP facility is the former Sphinx Pharmaceuticals operation that Lilly bought in 1994.

It will close by the end of March as part of a companywide restructuring that will eliminate 1,000 jobs, Lilly officials said.

The Indianapolis-based company included details of the restructuring Thursday in its quarterly earnings report.
