(LLY.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Thursday reported a second-quarter net loss after taking a hefty charge for a product liability settlement and legal costs related to its schizophrenia drug Zyprexa.

Excluding the special charges and other items however, Lilly met Wall Street expectations for a profit of 67 cents per share.

The company posted a net loss of $252 million, or 23 cents per share, compared with a profit of $657 million, or 60 cents ...
